Authenticity

So why if we are coming from a place of authenticity that we STILL hide behind our masks?...This so so confuses me.  Is that damn thing glued on there so tight we don't even consciously know the difference between when it's on and when it's off?  So then if I am running around with a mask on how in the hell do I take it off and is my existence a lie?   Is my work as an artist a lie to?  Do I hide behind my work or is THAT, the work really me?  Hmmmm.   How do we, I , break out of our chains of ego and live in source?
